Langley Wellington LLP are pleased to announce that they are only the 15th organisation and the first in Gloucestershire to be licensed as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. The licence takes effect on 1st October 2012. Since last year we have been a Legal Disciplinary Partnership as changes in how law firms are regulated enabled us to recognise the contribution of Andy Moston a non solicitor who has always been an important part of the firm and he became a partner. In due course we like all firms with non lawyer partners were going to be required to be an ABS but as Andy told the Law Gazette “ We like to lead, which is why we were one of the first firms to apply for ABS status. It will allow us to bring new ideas to the front” As an ABS it would be possible for us to seek external funding but as Andy told the Solicitors Journal we have no plans to do this; he told them “ Any external investor would have to live up to our standards and the way we deal with our clients. We will look at every opportunity to move the practice forward for the benefit of our clients. We’re here to service clients in the locality”
